Tomoko uses driftwood to craft home décor. Ryuboku-Ya means a “driftwood store” in Japanese.

Tomoko lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia for about five years, then moved to British Columbia in 2015. A friend from secondary school in Japan has gotten into driftwood and air plants. Tomoko was amazed by how a little piece of driftwood could add an accent to the living space, and started to make driftwood products herself.

With her friend’s advice, her interests in making driftwood decorative objects have grown bigger and so as her collection. The next project that interests Tomoko is creating driftwood clocks. She hopes to participate in more craft fairs in the future.

After 10 years of living in Canada, she has decided to go back to Japan in February, 2017.
